AFTERSHOCKS AND OPPORTUNITIES: Scenarios For A Post-Pandemic Future

The book is titled Aftershocks and Opportunities: Scenarios for a Post-Pandemic Future. It is an anthology of 25 different authors with their projections of what the world will (or should) be like after the pandemic is over. Will it cause fundamental changes medically, economically and politically? Of will the world revert to the way it was? My chapter is titled “The Pandemic and the Medical Enlightenment: The View from 2035.” I project that the response to the pandemic, with researchers bypassing the usual protocols in the race to find a vaccine, will lead to a new understanding of the human genome, a new paradigm in how diseases are fought and a new way of structuring the economy.
