HOW TO PREVENT COVID-19
An Interview with Dr. Patty Durath Cooper
- What do you do to stay at home during this Coronavirus Pandemic?
First of all, you reconnect with yourself. Your body can be stopped from wandering, but your mind cannot. At some point you discover that you have to spend an unusual amount of time with your real self. Do I really know this person I am spending all this time with? You might wonder, and you might want to put it to good use. There are at least a couple of ways of doing it.
a) Rediscover and readjust yourself through meditation- for the most spiritual ones or for whom is already into this kind of technique.
b) Reconnect yourself to the ones you love or you have loved in the past.
Personally, I am embracing the second one. In these moments of uncertainty, in which the whole world is experiencing self-isolation and social distancing, love can heal.
Nay, physiologically love does heal. Thoughts of spiritual and carnal love may actually lower the level of cortisol in your system. Cortisol is the body’s primary stress hormone, and it also plays a role in controlling blood sugar levels. The adrenal gland, the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus stimulate the production of cortisol when needed, and it block it when the levels need to drop back down. In stressful situations like the one we are all experiencing now, cortisol’s levels tend to remain high, and this represents a real danger. That’s why it is fundamental to learn to better manage our stress. In order to do so, you have to make room for positive thoughts like love and sweet affection. Make it the goal of your day, spend time to talk, videochat, text with the ones who are into your hearts, and you won’t be lonely or bored anymore.
2. What recommendations do you wan want to give to people who want to stay healthy?
Want to stay healthy? Then watch the news responsibly. You don’t need to over expose yourself to every single news every 30 minutes. It is a terrible stress.
Try to rediscover yourself through the ones you love, or the ones you have loved on the past. Ask the people you love and have loved why they love and have loved you back, trying to emphasize the bright side. Ask them to put into writing which traits of your personality they have come to appreciate. You will probably get a range of different answers. The more complex your personality is, the more various answers you will get. Then work on these answers: explore your love life in a more profound way, like you’re never done before. Invest time in the persons you love: this is an effort you thank yourself for, once this all will be past.
As far as every day behaviors are concerned, just keep this in mind: this virus has just a thin layer of lipids to protect their structure. Whatever crashes this barrier like: soap, detergents, foam used under hot water, or alcohol, or bleach is a super valid tool to destroy their structure. Like many viruses Covid-19 likes humidity and dark places, so you have to open up your house to the warmth of the sun and the consequent dryness.
Wash up you clothes and hands as much as possible. Don’t shake your clothes or carpets: the virus is inert on these surfaces. If you shake them, you have it flying around you and your house.
A positive attitude strength the immune system, gives you the energy you need to go through your day, so work out at home, or take a solitary walk!
Eat and drink in moderation: putting on weight is one of the thing you have to avoid in order not to put an additional burden on your system.
And finally: do not be emotionally shut down. Love is the answer. Believe in loving, and ask to be loved.
3. What is your vision for the next 5 years?
Very good question. A virus escaped from a Chinese lab, or a natural mutation of a Corona viruses’ family…it is almost irrelevant at this point. What is relevant is that we will have to deal with a new kind of danger in the near future. In order to beat it, the only solution is to strengthen your immune system. Don’t let it go down, or you won’t be able to play the game anymore. Cultivate your personality, no one can bring you down. It is your survival.
In a 5 years scenario, I firmly believe that we have to work on our bodies and souls to make ourselves invincible. Maybe a war has just begun. Maybe we need to gather all our energy to counteract. Maybe we will have to fight more invisible enemies. One thing is for sure: we will stay put. We will ride the storm, whatever it will be. Trusting God and Love.
