Mr. Diggs boasts a distinguished career that spans over a decade, commencing as an associate attorney at Ivie, McNeil & Wyatt in 2010. His journey led him to ascend to the position of Partner/Director in 2016, and in 2019, he achieved the honor of becoming a named partner when the firm was rebranded to Ivie McNeill Wyatt Purcell & Diggs. As a seasoned litigator with significant trial expertise in federal and state courts, he currently chairs the Labor and Employment and Civil Rights practice groups. In this capacity, Mr. Diggs provides strategic counsel and negotiation prowess to clients grappling with employment-related and police misconduct/wrongful death matters.
Among his remarkable achievements, Mr. Diggs has secured over $200 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. A standout accomplishment includes a groundbreaking $9.1 million verdict in a wrongful death case against the City of Long Beach, marking the city’s largest verdict and the second largest in the Central District of California for a wrongful death case. Furthermore, Mr. Diggs played a pivotal role as lead counsel in Reginald Mitchell v. California Department of Public Health, resulting in a published California Court of Appeal decision.
Mr. Diggs’ academic journey began with distinction at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he excelled in his undergraduate studies. Subsequently, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Howard University School of Law. During his tenure at Howard, he held key leadership roles, including Vice President of the Student Bar Association, Chief Justice of Sigma Delta Tau Legal Fraternity, and Senior Staff Editor of the Human Rights and Globalization Law Review. He is admitted to practice before the State of California, Central, Eastern, and Southern Districts of the United States District Courts, and the United States Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit).
In 2015, Mr. Diggs was selected as one of the 25 attorneys to join the American Board of Trial Advocates SideBar, a segment of the Los Angeles Chapter of ABOTA. Additionally, he serves as a Board of Directors member and officer for the John M. Langston Bar Association.
In recognition of his outstanding professional accomplishments, Mr. Diggs has been named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal.
