THE FRESH PRINCE OF MALIBU
The Journey of Devin Cooke from University High to Pepperdine University
1. Tell us how you made your dream come true of being admitted into Pepperdine University in Malibu?
Through extensive hard work, focus, and determination, I made my dream come true of being admitted into Pepperdine University. Staying true to my inner character and academic commitment enabled me to receive the POSSE FOUNDATION Scholarship, which now grants me the blessing of attending Pepperdine with a group of like-minded innovators, and fully paid college tuition.
2. How do you plan to afford your next 4 year University education? Tell us about the scholarships you earned so far.
Along with receiving the POSSE Foundation scholarship, I’ve applied for various scholarships to ensure that I can conveniently live on the Pepperdine Seaver College campus. So far, I have received the Edison International STEM Scholarship, and I am looking to pursue others such as the Live Más scholarship, Blacks at Microsoft scholarship, Sallie Mae scholarships and more.
3. What advice would you give to juniors preparing for college so they can have the same or better success you’re have so far?
To the juniors out there, aspiring to continue their academic career and become successful , my advice to you all is to persevere and continue being receptive to the life lessons you are given. Stay focused on your individual goals and continue being open to new growth and failure as a stepping stone in your future success.
