THE JOURNEY OF JOSE ANGEL CASTRO
1. Tell us about the journey of your success.
The first thing I will say about the journey of my success is that my journey continues. The second thing I would say is that my definition of success is unconventional. For me, success is based on how much I feel I am contributing to the world around me which is a pretty broad spectrum. It can include so many things from little things like making someone I’ve never met before smile or something big like helping students discover a new mindset that may affect the rest of their lives.
I have been extremely fortunate to acquire a range of skills throughout my life, creative and otherwise, that allow me to contribute to my world and therefore contribute to my success.
2. What advice would you give to people who want to follow in your footsteps?
The advice I would give to anyone who wants to follow in my footsteps is that if my path is a way you find valuable, take the most important elements that work for you and use them to find your own path. There is not only one way. This is a way.
The other thing I would say is, “Contribute.” Find ways that you can offer something of yourself to improve the world around you. We each have “Personal Legacy”. Be aware and deliberate about what you leave behind you.
3. What do you do for your well-being?
Like I said before, I am fortunate to have acquired some important skills over my life. That has given me a number of practices that I can rely on to stay as balanced as I can. I have been practicing martial arts since I was a kid. That’s a big one. I also rely heavily on singing as one of my go-to self-care practices. And, I also have to mention that I reap a great deal of benefit from contributing as I mentioned before. That practice has a kind of self-perpetuating reward that is really important to me.
